Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Essential Elements ("we", "our", or "us") is a Shopify application that allows merchants to create and display Accordion, Tab, and Carousel content elements on their storefronts. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

2. Information We Collect

When you install and use Essential Elements, we collect the following information:

  • Shop information: Your myshopify.com domain and basic store details provided by Shopify during the OAuth installation flow.
  • Content data: The element groups, items, titles, descriptions, and images you create inside the app.
  • Product, collection, and page data: Identifiers and metadata for resources you select in Display Settings (fetched via the Shopify Admin API and not stored beyond your session).
  • Session tokens: OAuth access tokens issued by Shopify to authenticate API requests on your behalf.

We do not collect any personal data about your customers or storefront visitors.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To authenticate your store and maintain your session.
  • To save, retrieve, and display the elements you create.
  • To render your elements on your storefront via the theme block.
  • To process webhooks sent by Shopify (e.g. app uninstall, GDPR requests).

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage

Your element data is stored in a secure database associated with your shop domain. Access tokens are stored encrypted. We retain your data for as long as the app is installed on your store.

5. Data Deletion

When you uninstall Essential Elements, we receive an uninstall webhook from Shopify and delete all data associated with your store within 48 hours. You may also contact us at any time to request immediate data deletion.

6. GDPR Compliance

We respond to Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks:

  • Customer data request: We do not store customer personal data, so no customer data export is applicable.
  • Customer data erasure: Same as above — no customer data is held.
  • Shop data erasure: All shop data is deleted upon receiving this webhook or on app uninstall.

7. Third-Party Services

Essential Elements uses the Shopify Admin API to read your store's products, collections, and pages. Your data is governed by Shopify's Privacy Policy in addition to this policy.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted storage of access tokens, HTTPS for all data in transit, and restricted database access.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
